Background of the Moringa Tree
Moringa—also known as the drumstick tree or the horseradish tree—is a fast-growing tree native to the southern foothills of the Himalayas in northern India. It can grow to 40 feet, with an open crown of fragile branches and fragrant, yellow-white flowers.
The hanging fruit contains dark-brown seeds with papery, whitish wings. Moringa is a versatile and nutritious food source throughout the year. Fruit or seedpods, known as drumsticks, are used in a variety of Indian dishes.
