Description
- Soil Association certified Organic
- Hibiscus whole flowers
- Air dried to preserve flavour and nutrients
- Delicious tart bold flavour
Our Organic hibiscus loose leaf tea is Soil Association certified organic and made from the finest hibiscus flowers available.
Our tea is made by drying the vibrantly coloured calyces of the hibiscus flower, which are kept whole as much as possible but can break into smaller pieces easily. The flowers come from the hibiscus plant, also known as the Hibiscus Sabdariffa, or Roselle in Thailand and parts Australasia.
The hibiscus flower itself is yellow with a red centre, and it is the flowers, the fruit and the calyx that are used for healing Ayurveda purposes.
Fragrant Organic Hibiscus Tea
Our hibiscus tea is a very fragrant and tart beverage that when steeped provides deep, rich purple tea that's a source of vitamins and minerals, which can be enjoyed hot or cold. It has a great taste but can be sour, a bit like cranberry juice, so if you like the sweeter things in life, steep it with a small amount of stevia if required.
As a rich source of vitamins hibiscus tea may support a normal immune system as part of a balanced diet.
To make a delicious hot cup of hibiscus tea, add the cut and sifted hibiscus flowers to a pot of freshly boiled water and leave to steep for 3-6 minutes to reach your desired taste and strength.
Looking for something different
Try adding a stick of cinnamon, honey, stevia leaf, mint leaves or even a wedge of lime during steeping to change the flavour dramatically.
Try leaving your freshly brewed hibiscus tea to cool, then refrigerate and drink at a later date poured over ice cubes for an enjoyable, refreshing iced tea with all the same health benefits.
Hibiscus makes fascinating party cocktails
You can use brewed and cooled hibiscus tea as a sangria base and then add the alcohol along with pieces of chopped fruit and berries for sangria with a healthy punch. Alternatively, if you are trying to reduce your alcohol intake, why not swap that glass of red wine with a glass of cooled hibiscus tea when relaxing in the evening?
