Noni fruit or Morinda Citrifolia is it's full name is a superfood fruit that has been recognised for its regenerative qualities for over 2000 years. Initially discovered and used by Polynesian Islanders in recent times Noni super food fruit has become very popular the world over. This popularity is because of the dramatic results Noni provides. It's popularity and awareness have increased at the same time as that of goji berries and aloe vera juice.
About Noni Fruit Superfood
There has been extensive research conducted into Noni fruit and this research has resulted in Noni fruit being recognised as a modern-day superfood. The Noni tree is in the same family as the coffee plant, and can be found growing throughout South East Asia, Australasia, Polynesia and the Pacific Islands.
The Noni tree grows in a wide verity of environments from densely crowded forests to brackish shorelines. The tree is fully grown after about 18 months; from that time onwards the tree will bear from 3 to 9 Kg of fruit every month throughout the year. The flowers the precede the fruit have a pungent and distinctive smell.

Because of the nutrients, vitamins and micronutrients that can be found in noni fruit and by products made of the fruit, noni is commonly referred to as a superfood. The primary micronutrients found in the fruit are:

- Phytochemicals
A phytochemical found in Noni are iridoids, polysaccharides, fatty acids, lignans, flavonoids, scopoletin, catechin, alkaloids and damnacanthal among others. These elements have been accredited for their bioactivity.

An experiment conducted by scientists in Hawaii (where a lot of Noni is grown) involved growing tumours in mice. When the tumour was formed, some of the mice were treated by injecting them with noni fruit juice. The mice that received the noni fruit juice injections lived twice as long as the mice that were left unmedicated. The same laboratory documented another experiment in which freeze-dried noni fruit extract was given to mice, the extract induced sleep and reduced pain in the laboratory mice.
It must be put on the record that there are many documented experiments where noni fruit and extracts have provided notable and significant benefits. But at this stage officially no such experiments has been carried out by or recognised by the Food & Drug Administration of America.
